Oral Presentation Script- A Mural Project

This is a mural design I did back in high school. If you are not familiar with what a mural is. It is essentially a painting or other work of art executed directly on a wall. We got the permission from the school principals to paint the mural, but unfortunately we did not have the chance to do it due to the pandemic.
Some might say that it is very hard for visual artists to get the recognition they deserve. Unlike dance, choir, and instrumental music artists, visual artists don’t have a stage of their own, and they don’t get roses after a show. The audiences are not the ones to blame, but instead, the problem is society.

I interviewed one of the art teachers from the studio I use to work as a teaching assistant, and I also interviewed a friend of mine who is applying to art college and will likely pursue a job in the field of illustration. Their responses are quite similar. They said that people nowadays are forgetting the significance of visual arts, and the society we currently have is not a pleasant one for artists. We got too caught up in work, at school, and other necessities of life, which leaves us less opportunity to actually experience the bitter and the sweet around, and we ultimately have less time to sit down and gently brush paint onto a canvas.

In my opinion, a mural is not just a decoration. The purpose of me creating a mural is to honor the passion and talent of artists, to remind people the significance of art, and to inspire them to create.
